Flux Analysis and Cash Flow Forecasting
Fi, your AI CFO, runs flux analysis on your live financial reports and forecasts your cash flow. Use it to see what changed between periods, why it changed, and where your cash is heading.
Before You Begin
- Fi works from the transactions and reports in your Fiskl account. Keep your bank feeds connected and your transactions categorised.
- Some capabilities depend on your plan. See Fiskl plans.
Flux Analysis
Flux analysis explains how a figure moved from one period to the next. Ask Fi to run it on your profit and loss, your cash flow, or another financial report.
For each period, Fi:
- Calculates the opening figure, the closing figure and the movement
- Names the main driver of the change, such as a revenue peak, a month with no sales, or a spike in operating costs
- Separates operating activity from financing and investing activity in your cash flow
- Charts the trend across the periods
Fi ends with what to review next and a recommended action, such as building a cash buffer or reviewing a cost line.
Example Questions
- "Run a month-by-month flux analysis on my profit and loss for this year"
- "Explain the change in my cash between July and September"
- "Which expenses drove the drop in my margin last quarter?"
- "Show revenue, expenses and net profit by month, and explain the peaks"
Ask a follow-up question about any period to see the transactions behind it.
Cash Flow Forecasting
Fi forecasts your cash flow forward from your live data. Ask for a six-month forecast to see where your cash position is heading.
Test a Scenario
After the forecast, test a change in the same conversation. Fi shows how the change affects the forecast.
- "Forecast my cash flow for the next six months"
- "What happens to my cash if my largest client pays 30 days late?"
- "Can I afford a new hire at 4,000 GBP a month from June?"
Turn the Analysis into Commentary
Ask Fi to turn a flux analysis or a forecast into written commentary for a management report. See Draft Management Commentary.
Common Issues
The analysis shows a movement I don't recognise
Ask Fi to show the transactions behind that period. An uncategorised or misclassified transaction often explains an unexpected movement. Correct it, then run the analysis again.
The forecast does not reflect what I expect
The forecast is built from the data in your account. Check that recent invoices, bills and bank transactions are recorded, then test a scenario that reflects what you expect.
