Atlas Overview

Atlas is your central workspace for managing your accounting practice in Fiskl. This accountant portal brings together team management, client oversight, and billing into a single platform designed for firms of any size.

Why Use Atlas

Whether you run a solo practice or a multi-office firm, Atlas gives you the structure and control to scale efficiently. You manage everything from one place — your team, your clients, and your billing — while keeping each branch independent.

Key benefits:

  • Organise your firm into branches by location, currency, or business unit
  • Control team access with granular, branch-level permissions
  • Choose between firm-paid or client-paid billing for each client
  • Monitor your practice through branch and organisation-level dashboards
  • Earn referral revenue through the Fiskl partner program
  • Free for accountants

How Atlas Is Structured

Atlas uses a two-tier hierarchy: a parent organisation at the top, with one or more branches beneath it.

Parent Organisation

When you sign up, you become the Super Admin of your parent organisation. The parent organisation provides central oversight of all branches, users, and billing. It does not manage clients directly — that happens at the branch level.

Branches

Each branch represents a location, office, or business unit within your firm. Branches are where the day-to-day work happens: managing accountants, onboarding clients, and handling billing.

Every branch operates in a single billing currency. You set this currency when you create the branch. If your firm works across multiple currencies, create a branch for each one. For example, a New York office billing in USD can sit alongside a second branch billing in EUR for European clients.

info

Client accounts can use any currency regardless of the branch billing currency. A USD branch can manage clients operating in EUR, GBP, or any other currency.

Team Management

You manage your team at two levels: organisation-wide roles and branch-level permissions.

Organisation Roles

Organisation roles apply across all branches:

  • Super Admin — Complete access to all branches, users, and billing settings
  • Billing Admin — View all invoices, charges, and upcoming fees across branches
  • Viewer — Read-only access to all branches and client data

Branch Roles

You assign accountants to specific branches with a permission level for each. The same accountant can hold different roles on different branches. For example, Sarah might have Owner permissions on the Amsterdam branch but only Member access on the Paris branch.

  • Owner — Full control over the branch including billing and team management
  • Admin — Manage clients and team members with limited billing access
  • Member — Work with assigned clients but cannot manage team or billing

You can further customise permissions for individual users. Remove specific permissions — such as billing access — from any role when needed.

Client Management

You add clients to a branch using one of three methods. Each method determines who owns the account and who manages billing.

Bill Us — Your Firm Pays

Your firm creates and owns the client account. You control billing, and subscription costs appear on your branch's monthly invoice.

  1. Add a payment method through Stripe (must match the branch billing currency)
  2. Create the client account from your portal
  3. Invite the business owner to access their account

The client cannot disconnect the accountant relationship. This model works well for fully managed service arrangements.

Client Pays — Accountant Invites Client

You send an invitation link to your client. The client signs up, creates their own account, and adds their own payment method. You then receive an invitation to access their account.

The client owns the account and manages their own subscription. Either party can disconnect the relationship at any time. This model suits advisory relationships and bookkeeping services.

Client Pays — Client Invites Accountant

Your client signs up for Fiskl independently and invites you to be their accountant. This works the same as the accountant-initiated flow — the client owns the account and either party can disconnect.

tip

You can mix billing models within the same branch. Run some clients on Bill Us and others on Client Pays based on each relationship.

Dashboards

Atlas provides two levels of visibility into your practice:

  • Branch dashboard — Shows clients, team activity, and billing for a single branch
  • Organisation dashboard — Available to users with organisation-level access, showing a summary across all branches

Partner Referral Program

The Fiskl partner referral program lets you earn commission by referring new users. The program applies to Client Pays accounts only.

You enrol through Atlas and receive custom referral links for tracking. When a referred client subscribes, you earn commission. The referral dashboard displays payment details, commission amounts, and conversion status.

You can manage the referral program at the organisation level or at the branch level. Fiskl provides email templates containing your referral link, but you send all communications from your own email to maintain your brand.

Billing and Payments

Fiskl generates one invoice per branch each month for all Bill Us clients on that branch. Adding or upgrading users prorates automatically based on the billing cycle. Fiskl uses Stripe for payment processing and invoice management.

To update your payment method or billing address, go to the billing section in Atlas. Fiskl redirects you to Stripe's secure hosted page where you can update your details. Changes apply to future invoices automatically.

Clients on the Client Pays model manage their own billing directly with Fiskl. You have no payment responsibility for those accounts.

Support

Atlas includes live chat support and access to the full Fiskl help documentation. Atlas is free for accountants who are active on the platform.
