Client Management

Client Management is where you connect clients to your practice, open their Fiskl accounts, and decide who on your team works on each client. This section explains how those pieces fit together.

Why Client Management Matters

Every client you work with in Atlas lives in a branch. From the client list you open any client's Fiskl account with one selection, without a separate login. From the client page you decide which accountants can work on that client and how much they can change.

With Client Management you can:

  • Add clients your firm pays for, or invite clients who pay for themselves
  • Accept invitations from business owners who already use Fiskl
  • Open a client's Fiskl account directly from Atlas
  • Give each accountant a permission level for each client, from Full Admin to Read Only
  • Keep shared notes and documents on every client
  • See a permanent record of everyone whose access has been revoked

Key Concepts

These terms appear throughout this section:

  • Branch: The office or team a client belongs to. You see the clients of the branch selected at the top of the menu.
  • Charge Us: Your firm creates the client's account and pays the subscription.
  • Client Pays: The client owns their account and pays their own subscription.
  • Assigned accountant: A team member who has been given access to a client. Only assigned accountants can open the client's Fiskl account.
  • Primary accountant: The assigned accountant who is the main contact for the client.
  • Permission level: What an assigned accountant can do inside the client's Fiskl account. It is set per accountant, per client.

How It Works

Client access has two layers. The first layer is your Atlas role and permissions. These decide which clients you can see in Atlas and whether you can add clients or manage other accountants' access.

The second layer is the permission level on each client. It decides what you can do once you open that client's Fiskl account. A team member can be a branch Owner in Atlas and still have Read Only access to one particular client.

  1. Add or accept a client: Use Charge Us or Client Pays, or accept an incoming invitation.
  2. Assign accountants: On the client page, add each accountant who works on the client and select their permission level.
  3. Open the account: Each assigned accountant selects Access Fiskl to work in the client's account.
tip

Set a default permission level for your branch under Settings > Organization > Default client access. Atlas pre-selects it each time you add an accountant to a client.
