Team Collaboration
This section explains how to manage your accounting team in Atlas, from inviting new members to configuring their roles and permissions across branches.
How Team Management Works
Team management in Atlas is branch-based. You access it from Team Management in the left sidebar, which contains two sections: Team Members and Team Invitations. The branch selector at the top of the menu controls which branch you are viewing.
Each team member is assigned to one or more branches with a role on each. Roles provide a default set of permissions, and you can customise individual permissions to add or remove specific capabilities.
Key Concepts
Branch roles control what a team member can do within a specific branch. Atlas provides three roles: Owner, Admin, and Member. Each role is a permission group — a predefined set of permissions that you can customise per team member.
Parent roles provide organisation-wide access across all branches. There are three parent roles: Super Admin, Billing Admin, and Viewer. A team member can have a parent role in addition to their branch roles, or no parent role at all — meaning they only have access to branches they are explicitly assigned to.
Permissions are the individual capabilities that make up each role. Atlas has eight permission categories: Organisation, Billing, Team, Parent Roles, Clients, Access Control, Audit & Reports, and Security. You can override any permission for any team member at the branch level.
Self-documenting UI — Atlas always shows action buttons even if you do not have the required permission. A tooltip on the button explains which permission is needed. This makes it easy to understand what permissions are required without referring to documentation.
What You Can Do
From the team management area, you can:
- Invite new team members to a branch or all branches
- Assign and change branch roles (Owner, Admin, Member)
- Customise individual permissions per branch
- Grant or revoke parent roles (Super Admin, Billing Admin, Viewer)
- Manage client access assignments for team members
- Add team members to additional branches
- Reset MFA for team members who have lost access
- Track invitation status and history
