Accepting Client Invitations
This page explains how to review, accept, and reject client invitations in Atlas when business owners invite you to access their Fiskl accounts.
How Client Invitations Work
Client invitations arrive in Atlas through two paths:
- A client signs up using your Client Pays invitation link, completes their setup, and an invitation is sent back to you automatically.
- An existing Fiskl user goes to External Access in their Fiskl Dashboard and invites you using your branch email address.
In both cases, the client owns the account and pays their own subscription. You review the invitation in Atlas and decide whether to accept.
Finding Pending Invitations
Pending invitations appear in the Atlas sidebar navigation.
Look for Client Invitations below Clients in the left sidebar. A badge shows the count of pending invitations. The badge updates in real time as new invitations arrive and disappears when no invitations are pending.
To view all pending invitations:
- Go to the sidebar navigation in Atlas
- Select Client Invitations under the Clients section
- All pending invitations display in a list
Reviewing an Invitation
Each invitation shows details about the client and their request. You can see the client's company name, the business owner's name and email, the date the invitation was sent, and the branch it is assigned to.
If the client included a message when sending the invitation, it appears here as well. Review all details before accepting or rejecting.
Accepting an Invitation
Accept an invitation to establish the accountant-client relationship and gain access to the client's account.
- Go to Client Invitations in the sidebar
- Review the invitation details
- Select Accept Invitation
- Confirm the action
After you accept:
- The client appears in your branch's Clients list immediately
- You gain accountant access to the client's account
- The client receives an email notification confirming your acceptance
- You can begin working in their account straight away
- The client continues to pay their own subscription
Either party can disconnect the relationship at any time.
Rejecting an Invitation
Reject an invitation when you cannot take on the client or the relationship is not a good fit.
- Go to Client Invitations in the sidebar
- Select the invitation to review
- Select Reject Invitation
- Select a reason for rejection
- Add an optional message to the client
- Select Confirm Rejection
After you reject:
- The client receives an email notification with your reason
- The invitation is removed from your pending list
- No relationship is established
- The client can seek another accountant
Respond to invitations within 48 hours. Prompt responses — even rejections — leave a professional impression and help clients move forward.
After Accepting a Client
Once you accept an invitation, you can begin working in the client's account. Common first steps include reviewing their company details and tax settings, checking their Chart of Accounts, connecting bank accounts if needed, and assigning team members to the client.
For details on managing the ongoing relationship, see Client Connections.
Common Issues
Invitation not appearing in Atlas
Refresh the Atlas page and check the Client Invitations section again. If the invitation still does not appear, verify with the client that they sent the invitation to the correct branch email address. Invitations sent to an individual accountant's email may route differently.
Accidentally rejected the wrong invitation
There is no undo for a rejected invitation. Contact the client directly, explain the situation, and ask them to resend the invitation from External Access in their Fiskl Dashboard.
