Sending Invoices

This guide explains how to send invoices to your clients using email or a share link, and how to set up automated reminders for overdue invoices.

Before You Begin

Before sending, confirm the following:

  • You have reviewed the invoice for accuracy
  • You have selected the appropriate payment methods

For help creating invoices, see Creating Invoices.

Sending Options

Fiskl gives you two ways to send an invoice. You can send by email directly from the app or share a link through any messaging platform.

Send by Email

Email Types

Fiskl offers two email formats:

Standard emails are HTML-formatted templates provided by Fiskl. They respect the language setting of the invoice, use the email logo set in Templates and Brands, and apply the primary header colour from your invoice template.

Custom emails let you write company-specific messages for different scenarios, such as overdue reminders, deposit requests, and invoice delivery. Set these up in Templates and Brands.

Send an Invoice by Email

  1. Open the invoice
  2. Go to the Email section
  3. Select Standard or Custom email format
  4. Edit the email text if needed
  5. Add CC or BCC recipients if required
  6. Select Send

Email CC and BCC

To add a CC or BCC address, enter the email address into the respective input field in the Email section of the invoice. You can also set a default BCC for all outgoing invoice emails in Invoice & Quote Settings.

info

To send emails from your own domain, whitelist it in Invoice & Quote Settings.

Generate Share Link marks the invoice as Sent and creates a shareable link. You can send this link through any channel, such as WhatsApp, a messaging app, or your own email client. The link takes your client to a secure page where they can preview and pay the invoice.

  1. Open the invoice
  2. Select Send Invoice
  3. Select Generate Share Link
  4. Copy the generated link
  5. Paste the link into your preferred messaging app or communication method
tip

Messaging apps provide read receipts and conversation history, making it easy to track delivery and follow up with clients.

Set Up Automated Reminders

Fiskl can send automated reminders for overdue invoices:

  1. Go to the Email section in the invoice
  2. Scroll down to Overdue Reminders
  3. Select your preferred reminder schedule

Best Practices

  • Double-check invoice details before sending
  • Use custom emails for a more personalised approach with regular clients
  • Set up automated reminders to improve cash flow
  • Keep email templates professional and consistent with your brand
  • Use the Fiskl iOS and Android apps to receive push notifications on invoice delivery status
  • Check your notifications for failed delivery alerts

Common Issues

Client did not receive the invoice email

Ask your client to check their spam or junk folder. Verify that the email address on the invoice is correct. If the problem persists, check your notifications for a failed delivery alert and try resending.

Invoice still shows as Draft after sharing the link

Make sure you used Generate Share Link from the Send Invoice option. Copying the browser URL directly does not change the invoice status to Sent.

CC or BCC recipients are not receiving emails

Confirm the email addresses are entered correctly in the Email section. If you have a default BCC set in Invoice & Quote Settings, check that the address is still valid.
