Managing Your Accountant's Access

This guide explains how to see which accountants can access your Fiskl account, how to remove their access, and what to expect if your accountant set up your account for you.

To invite an accountant, see Inviting Your Accountant.

Opening Accountant Access

Your accountants are listed on the Accountant Access page. To open it, do either of the following:

  • Select the three dots next to your company name at the bottom of the left menu, then select External Access
  • Go to Team Members and select Manage Accountants. If you haven't added an accountant yet, the button is called Add Accountant instead.

Seeing Who Has Access

At the top of the Accountant Access page, you can see how many accountants have active access, how many invitations are pending, and how many have been accepted but aren't active yet.

Below that, your accountants are listed in three groups:

  • Active Accountant Access — Accountants with current access to your financial data. Each one shows their name, firm, email, when they last accessed your account, and their status.
  • Accepted Invitations — Accountants who accepted your invitation but haven't signed in to your account yet. They move to Active Accountant Access after their first sign-in, which confirms their identity.
  • Pending Invitations — Invitations that haven't been accepted yet. See Inviting Your Accountant.

To see accountants who previously had access, select Show History.

Emails You Receive

When your accountant accepts your invitation, you receive a "Your connection request has been approved" email. It confirms you're connected with their firm, and that your accountant can now access your data.

Removing Your Accountant's Access

If you pay for your own Fiskl subscription, you can remove your accountant's access at any time. Your account, subscription, and data are not affected. You can invite the same firm, or a different one, again later.

Revoking an Active Accountant

  1. Open the Accountant Access page
  2. Under Active Accountant Access, find the accountant
  3. Select Revoke
  4. Select Revoke again to confirm

Revoking takes effect straight away. The accountant can no longer view your financial data.

Cancelling an Accepted Invitation

If your accountant accepted your invitation but hasn't signed in to your account yet, cancel the invitation instead:

  1. Open the Accountant Access page
  2. Under Accepted Invitations, find the accountant
  3. Select Cancel
  4. Select Cancel Invitation to confirm

You can invite them again later if needed.

If Your Accountant Invited You

Your accountant may send you an invitation link to sign up to Fiskl. Use the link to create your Fiskl account, complete setup, and add your payment method.

Signing up with the link doesn't connect your accountant to your account. To give them access, add your accountant from your Fiskl account. See Inviting Your Accountant.

You own the account and pay your own subscription, so you can remove your accountant's access at any time.

If Your Accountant Set Up Your Account

Some accounting firms set up your Fiskl account for you and pay for it as part of their service. In this case:

  • Your accountant's firm owns the account and pays the subscription
  • You have full access to your account
  • Your accountant may send you an email with a secure link to set your password and sign in

If you haven't received an email to set your password, contact your accountant.

You can't remove your accountant's access to an account their firm owns. If you stop working with them, ask them to transfer ownership of the account to you.

When the Account Is Handed Over to You

When your accountant transfers ownership to you, all your data stays in the account. The account moves to a free archive tier, where you can still sign in and see everything. To keep using Fiskl as normal, upgrade to your own subscription.

Common Issues

My accountant accepted but still isn't listed as active

Accountants move to Active Accountant Access after they first sign in to your account. Until then, they're listed under Accepted Invitations. Ask your accountant to open your account from Atlas.

I can't find a way to remove my accountant

If your accountant's firm set up and pays for your account, they own it, so only they can end the connection. Ask them to transfer ownership of the account to you.
