Inviting Your Accountant
This page explains how to invite your accountant to your Fiskl account. Accountants work in Fiskl Atlas, a free workspace for accounting firms, so the invitation always starts from your account and is accepted in theirs.
Before You Begin
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Permission to manage accountants on your account
- Your accountant's email address, ideally their firm's branch email from Atlas
Your accountant can find their branch email by expanding the menu in the top-left corner of Atlas. If they haven't signed up to Atlas yet, use the email address you normally contact them on.
Inviting Your Accountant
- Open the menu in the bottom-left corner and select External Access
- On the Accountant Access card, select Manage Accountants
- Select Invite Accountant
- Enter your accountant's email address
- Optionally, enter a personal message to explain what you need help with
- Select Send Invitation
When you move out of the email field, Fiskl checks whether the address belongs to an accountant on Atlas. What happens next depends on the result.
If your accountant is on Atlas, the invitation appears in their Client Invitations list in Atlas. After they accept it, they appear under Active Accountant Access on your Accountant Access page.
If your accountant isn't on Atlas yet, you can still invite them. See the next section.
Your accountant receives Full Access. They can view all your financial data, create and edit invoices, manage expenses, and run reports. They can't change your account settings or billing information.
Inviting an Accountant Who Isn't on Atlas Yet
Many accountants used Fiskl's previous accountant portal, which has been retired. Their old login doesn't carry over to Atlas, so they need to register once before they can connect to your account.
When Fiskl can't find the email address on Atlas, the invitation window explains this and the button changes to Email Invitation to Join Atlas.
To invite them:
- Check the email address is the one your accountant wants to use for Atlas
- Optionally, add a personal message. Fiskl includes it in the email to your accountant.
- Select Email Invitation to Join Atlas
Fiskl emails your accountant the steps to create a free Atlas account. Your invitation waits for them, and it appears in their Client Invitations list once they sign up and set up their firm. The whole sign-up takes them less than five minutes.
Your accountant must sign up to Atlas with the same email address you invited. The invitation is linked to that address. If they sign up with a different email, ask them for it and send a new invitation to that address.
Tracking the Invitation
The invitation appears in the Pending Invitations list on your Accountant Access page with the status Waiting for Atlas Sign-up. Hover over the status to see the date the email was sent.
Invitations to accountants who still need to sign up stay open for 30 days. Other invitations stay open for seven days.
Managing Pending Invitations
Each invitation in the Pending Invitations list has a menu with these options:
- Copy invitation link — Copy a link you can send to your accountant yourself
- Cancel — Withdraw an invitation that hasn't been accepted yet
- Delete — Remove a cancelled, declined or expired invitation from the list
You can revoke an accountant's access at any time from the Active Accountant Access list. Revoking takes effect immediately.
Common Issues
My accountant says they're already on Atlas, but Fiskl can't find them
Fiskl looks for the firm's branch email, which can be different from the email your accountant signs in with. Ask your accountant to expand the menu in the top-left corner of Atlas, copy the branch email shown there, and send it to you. Then invite that address.
My accountant signed up to Atlas but can't see my invitation
They probably signed up with a different email address from the one you invited. Ask them which email they used, cancel the old invitation, and send a new one to that address. Because they're now on Atlas, the new invitation goes straight to their Client Invitations list.
My accountant used Fiskl's old accountant portal
The old accountant portal has been retired, and its logins don't carry over to Atlas. Invite your accountant as described in Inviting an Accountant Who Isn't on Atlas Yet. The email explains how to register.
I see a message about a daily limit
To protect against misuse, each account can send up to 10 Atlas sign-up emails per day. Wait until the next day and try again. Invitations to accountants who are already on Atlas aren't affected.
The Send Invitation button is greyed out with a lock
Hover over the button to see the reason. You need permission to manage accountants, and your plan must allow inviting accountants. Ask the account owner if you aren't sure.
