Advisory Settings
This guide explains how to tune Advisory for your firm: which signals flag a client, how sensitive each one is, and how drafted notes sound.
Opening Advisory Settings
Go to Settings > Advisory. You need the Manage advisory settings permission, which Owners and Admins have by default.
Settings apply to the whole firm. Changes take effect the next time the Advisory view loads.
Signals
Each signal has an Enabled switch. Toggle Enabled off and the signal stops flagging clients. Items it already raised are resolved on the next refresh.
Thresholds
Each enabled signal has one or more thresholds. The defaults suit most practices, so change them only where your clients differ.
| Signal | Thresholds |
|---|---|
| Tax filing due | Flag when due within a number of days. Mark Urgent within a shorter window |
| Overdue receivables | Minimum overdue amount, minimum invoice count, and the age of the oldest invoice that makes it Urgent |
| Bank feed stale | Days without a sync before the feed counts as stale |
| No recent activity | Days without a booked transaction |
| Bookkeeping issues | Minimum number of high-priority findings |
| Cash runway low | Flag when runway falls below a number of months |
| Current ratio below 1 | Flag when the current ratio falls below a value |
Amount thresholds are entered in minor units, so £500 is entered as 50000.
Note Tone
The Note tone section controls how AI-drafted notes read.
- Style — Warm for a friendly, conversational note, Formal for a measured one, or Brief for the shortest version
- Firm name in notes — How your firm is referred to in the body
- Sign-off — The closing line, such as "Kind regards, The Hartley & Co team"
AI Drafts Per Day
AI drafts per day (firm) caps how many notes the whole firm can draft in a day. Drafting again counts as a new draft. Editing and sending do not.
Saving Changes
A save bar appears when you change anything. Select Save settings to apply, or Discard to drop the changes. Reset to defaults returns every signal, threshold and tone setting to the Fiskl defaults.
Lowering a threshold can flag many clients at once. Check the Advisory view after saving, and raise the threshold again if the list becomes noise.
Common Issues
The settings page says you need a permission
You need Manage advisory settings. By default only Owners and Admins have it. Ask your organisation Owner to enable it under the Advisory tab of your permissions.
You changed a threshold but the list looks the same
Settings apply when the Advisory view next loads. Open the view and select Refresh signals.
