User Settings
This guide explains how to manage your personal account preferences in Fiskl, including security, localization, appearance, and tracking settings. These settings apply only to your individual user account and do not affect other team members.
Before You Begin​
To open User Settings, select the menu next to your company name in the bottom-left corner of the Dashboard.
Settings under Account and most Preferences save automatically. Changes save when you move to another field. Accounting Preferences is the exception — select Save Changes to apply those settings.
Account​
Security​
Manage your login credentials and account security from this section.
- Change email — Update the email address associated with your account
- Change password — Set a new password for your account
- Two-factor authentication — Add a second verification step at login for extra security
Session Management​
The Refresh session option resets your current session. This is useful when working with the Fiskl support team to troubleshoot issues. You do not need to use it during regular day-to-day work.
Preferences​
Localization​
Correct localization settings ensure that dates, numbers, currencies, and times display accurately across both the web Dashboard and mobile apps.
- Region and language — Controls the formatting of dates, numbers, and currency symbols
- Time zone — Ensures times display correctly for your location
Dashboard Language​
Select the language used for buttons, menus, and labels across the Dashboard. By default, Fiskl matches the language set in your region preferences. Only change this if you need the interface in a different language.
Appearance​
Customise how the Dashboard looks and feels.
- Theme — Select Light, Dark, or System to match your device setting
- Text size — Select Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large to adjust readability across the Dashboard
Avatar​
Select Avatar to customise your profile picture and the colour associated with your account. This image appears next to your name in team views and activity logs.
Tracking Settings​
Configure your default rates and units for time and mileage tracking. These values are used as defaults when you log new time or mileage entries.
Mileage Tracking​
- Mileage rate — Set the standard rate used in mileage calculations (for example, 1.34 per mile)
- Travel unit — Select mi (miles) or km (kilometres)
Time Tracking​
- Billing rate — Set your default hourly rate (for example, 100 per hour)
- Billing unit — Select Hours or Minutes to define how your rate is applied (for example, 100 per 30 minutes)
Accounting Preferences​
Toggle Disable Account Suggestions to turn off the AI-powered ledger account suggestions that appear when you categorise transactions. Select Save Changes to confirm.
Account suggestions are enabled by default. They help speed up transaction categorisation by predicting the most relevant ledger accounts based on your history.
Common Issues​
My dates or numbers are displaying in the wrong format
This is usually caused by a mismatch between your region setting and your actual location.
- Go to User Settings > Preferences > Localization
- Confirm your Region and language matches your location
- Move to another field to save
- Refresh your browser to apply the change
My Dashboard is showing the wrong language
If the interface language does not match your expectations:
- Go to User Settings > Preferences > Dashboard Language
- Select your preferred language from the dropdown
- Move to another field to save
If the language still appears incorrect, check that your Region and language setting is also updated. These two settings work together.
