Cancel Subscription

This guide explains how to cancel your Fiskl subscription and helps you understand what happens to your data and access after cancellation.

Understanding Subscription Cancellation

Canceling your subscription stops automatic renewal while allowing you to keep your data. This differs from deleting your account, which permanently removes all information.

What cancellation means:

  • Your subscription stops renewing automatically
  • You maintain access until the end of your current billing period
  • Your data remains intact and accessible on the Free plan
  • You can revert the cancellation anytime before the period ends

Cancellation is ideal if you need to take a break but plan to return to Fiskl in the future.

How to Cancel Your Subscription

Before you begin, review your current billing period end date so you know when access to paid features will end.

Steps:

  1. Open Subscriptions & Billing

From the left menu, select Subscriptions & Billing.

  2. Go to the Billing tab

Select the Billing tab to view your current plan.

  3. Start the cancellation

On your plan card, select the X icon in the top right corner.

  4. Confirm cancellation

Review the confirmation modal and select Confirm to proceed.

Your subscription renewal is now canceled. The plan card displays the date when your subscription will end.

tip

You can revert the cancellation at any time before your subscription ends by selecting the round arrow icon on the plan card.

What Happens After Cancellation

When your subscription period ends, your account transitions to the Free plan with these changes:

What you keep:

  • Access to the Fiskl web and mobile apps
  • Most non-accounting data including invoices and expenses
  • Client and vendor records
  • Invoice history and sent invoices
  • Basic dashboard functionality

What becomes unavailable:

  • Accounting features and Chart of Accounts access
  • Advanced reporting capabilities
  • Multi-journal entries
  • Banking feed connections (disconnect after several days)
  • Features specific to paid plans

Your data is never deleted when you cancel. If you re-subscribe in the future, all information will be available. However, you'll need to reconnect your banking integrations.

Reconnecting Banking After Cancellation

If you had banking feeds connected through Salt Edge or Yodlee:

  1. Automatic disconnection: Feeds disconnect several days after your subscription ends
  2. Data preservation: Transaction history remains in Fiskl
  3. Reconnection required: When you re-subscribe, you'll need to reconnect your banks
  4. Fresh sync: New transactions import from the reconnection date forward

This disconnection protects your banking credentials when you're not actively using paid features.

Reverting a Cancellation

If you change your mind before your subscription ends:

Steps:

  1. Go to Subscriptions & Billing

Navigate to Subscriptions & Billing > Billing tab.

  2. Select the revert icon

Select the round arrow icon on your plan card.

  3. Confirm reversion

Confirm that you want to continue your subscription.

Your subscription continues as normal and will renew automatically at the next billing date.

Re-subscribing After Cancellation

To re-subscribe after your subscription has ended:

  1. Choose a plan: Go to Subscriptions & Billing > Plans tab
  2. Select your tier: Choose the plan that fits your needs
  3. Complete payment: Enter payment information to activate
  4. Reconnect banking: Set up banking feeds again if needed

All your historical data becomes immediately available when you re-subscribe.

If you want to permanently remove all your data, use account deletion instead of cancellation. See Delete Account for details.

When to Cancel vs Downgrade

Consider these options based on your needs:

Cancel if you:

  • Need to take a temporary break from Fiskl
  • Want to stop all charges while keeping your data
  • Plan to return in the future
  • Need time to evaluate your business needs

Downgrade if you:

  • Still need some Fiskl features
  • Want to reduce costs without losing access
  • Need basic functionality but not advanced features
  • Want to maintain active banking connections
