Customizing Your Dashboard
This guide explains how to personalize your Dashboard by controlling which widgets appear and in what order, helping you focus on the metrics that matter most to your business.
Why Customize Your Dashboardβ
Every business has different priorities. Customizing your Dashboard ensures you see the most relevant information first and hide sections you don't need.
Customization benefits:
- Focus on metrics aligned with your role
- Reduce visual clutter
- Speed up your daily workflow
- Highlight the data you check most often
Opening the Configuration Modalβ
To customize your Dashboard:
- Go to Dashboard (if not already there)
- Select the Configure Dashboard button in the top-right
- The configuration modal opens
The modal displays all available Dashboard sections with controls to show/hide and reorder them.
Understanding Widget Visibilityβ
Each Dashboard section can be shown or hidden:
- Visible widgets: Display on your Dashboard
- Hidden widgets: Don't appear but remain available to enable later
Your permission level determines which widgets you can access:
| Permission Level | Available Widgets |
|---|---|
| Full Account Access | All widgets (Key Metrics, Cashflow, Ratios, Invoicing, AR/AP Aging, Banking, Time, Mileage) |
| Billing & Invoicing | Invoicing, Time, Mileage |
| Limited Access | Time, Mileage only |
If you have limited permissions, the configuration modal shows an information banner explaining which widgets are available based on your role.
Showing or Hiding Widgetsβ
To change widget visibility:
- Open the configuration modal
- Locate the widget you want to show or hide
- Toggle the switch next to the widget name
- On (blue): Widget appears on your Dashboard
- Off (gray): Widget is hidden
- The eye icon updates to reflect the state
- The visible/hidden count updates at the top
Example: If you don't use the Financial Ratios widget, toggle it off to simplify your Dashboard.
Reordering Widgetsβ
Change the order widgets appear on your Dashboard:
To reorder widgets:
- Open the configuration modal
- Select and hold the grip icon (six dots) on the left of any widget
- Drag the widget up or down to your desired position
- Release to drop it in the new location
- The position number updates automatically
As you drag:
- The widget becomes slightly transparent
- A highlighted drop zone shows where it will land
- Other widgets shift to make space
Example workflow: Drag "Invoicing Summary" to the top if checking invoice status is your first daily task.
Reviewing Your Changesβ
The modal shows summary statistics:
- Visible: Number of widgets currently shown
- Hidden: Number of widgets currently hidden
This helps you track how many sections you're displaying.
Saving Your Configurationβ
After making changes:
- Review your settings in the modal
- Select Save in the bottom-right
- Your configuration saves immediately
- The modal closes
- Your Dashboard updates with the new layout
The Save button is only active when you've made changes. If it's grayed out, you haven't modified anything yet.
Canceling Changesβ
If you change your mind:
- Select Cancel in the bottom-right
- If you have unsaved changes, a confirmation dialog appears
- Confirm you want to discard changes
- The modal closes without saving
- Your Dashboard remains unchanged
Resetting to Defaultβ
Restore the original Dashboard layout:
To reset to defaults:
- Open the configuration modal
- Select the Reset button (circular arrow icon) in the bottom-left
- A confirmation dialog appears
- Confirm you want to reset
- All widgets return to their default:
- Default visibility (most visible)
- Default order (as designed by Fiskl)
Resetting removes all your customizations. This action cannot be undone. You'll need to reconfigure manually if you reset accidentally.
Configuration Best Practicesβ
Start with defaults: Use the Dashboard for a few days before customizing. You'll learn which widgets you check most.
Prioritize by frequency: Place widgets you check multiple times daily at the top.
Hide, don't delete: Hidden widgets remain available. You can always show them later if your needs change.
Match your role: If you focus on sales, prioritize Invoicing and AR Aging. If you manage finances, prioritize Key Metrics and Cashflow.
Review quarterly: As your business grows, your priorities may shift. Review your Dashboard configuration every few months.
