Getting Started with Accountant Portal

This section explains how to set up your accounting practice in the Accountant Portal and helps you configure branches, team members, and client accounts.

Before You Begin

The Accountant Portal is a complete practice management system designed for accounting firms. The portal has replaced the original single-person portal at my.fiskl.com/portal with a new team-based system at portal.fiskl.com.

Key improvements:

  • Team hierarchy with customizable roles and permissions
  • Multi-branch support for firms with multiple locations
  • Granular access controls per branch and per user
  • Flexible billing models (Bill Us or Client Pays)
  • Partner referral program integration

Your Setup Journey

Follow these steps to configure your practice:

  1. Sign up as Super Admin - Create your parent organization account
  2. Create your first branch - Set up a branch with currency and payment method
  3. Invite your team - Add accountants with appropriate permissions
  4. Add clients - Select billing model and create client accounts

Each step takes 5-10 minutes. Complete setup takes approximately 30 minutes for a basic practice.

Understanding the Portal Structure

The portal uses a two-tier hierarchy:

Parent Organization (Top Level):

  • Represents your entire accounting firm
  • Manages billing and team access
  • Cannot directly invite or manage clients
  • Controls all branches

Branches (Operational Level):

  • Location-specific divisions (e.g., London office, Paris office)
  • Each branch operates in a single currency
  • Manages client accounts and team members
  • Requires own payment method for Bill Us billing

What You'll Need

Before starting setup:

  • Business information (firm name, address, contact details)
  • Payment method (credit card for Bill Us billing via Stripe)
  • Team member email addresses
  • List of branches you want to create
  • Currency for each branch
