What's new in Fiskl — automation that learns, credit notes, and SEPA QR codes

Bank-feed categorisation has been rebuilt so that it learns from what you confirm, and gets out of the way once it has. Alongside it this sprint: credit notes, one view for all expenses, SEPA QR codes on invoices, and a few smaller things worth knowing about.

Categorisation that learns from you

Every imported bank transaction is offered to three sources, in a fixed order: your rules, then your own history, then the AI. The first that can place it wins. Rules and history are free and never guess. The AI is only asked about what they could not place, and writes an answer to your books only when it is 80% sure or more. Anything less waits for you.

What matters is what happens when you review. Finishing a transaction makes it yours, and history repeats that decision next time. Finish the same merchant twice and Fiskl proposes a rule. Or skip the wait: select the merchant on the review strip above your transactions, choose Finish and create rule, and the rule is written there and then. From that point the merchant never reaches the AI again, and nothing from it needs finishing.

We took our time on this. An earlier version guessed too readily, and one wrong guess could become the answer for every later transaction. This one learns only from decisions a person has made. The reasoning is in How Auto-Categorisation Works, the workflow in Finishing Transactions, and the switches now live under Settings > AI & Automations.

Credit notes

Issue a credit note against an invoice, apply it to what the client owes, or refund it, all from the same place as your invoices. See Credit Notes.

One place for expenses

The new unified Expenses view shows billable and billed side by side, so you can see at a glance what you can still charge a client for. Start at the Expenses Overview.

SEPA payments in one scan

Invoices to European clients now carry an EPC QR code. The client scans it in their banking app and the transfer is filled in, with nothing to retype.

Also in this release

  • Delivery address and delivery date on invoice templates and PDFs
  • EU OSS tax support, and the EU VAT number field is back on registration
  • A dedicated Currency Management screen
  • AI credits can be topped up in packs; see Selecting Plans

What to do next

The AI step is off until you turn it on. If you want it, go to Settings > AI & Automations > Automations and switch on AI Categorisation. Your rules and history run either way.
