Filtering and Exporting Journal Entries
Overview
Fiskl provides powerful tools to help you manage your accounting transactions. At the top of each transaction list, you'll find two key features:
- Filtering
- Exporting
These tools allow you to quickly find the transactions you need and export your data for further analysis or reporting.
Filtering transactions
Filtering helps you narrow down your transaction list to find exactly what you're looking for. You can filter by:
- Date range
- Predefined date periods (e.g., this financial year)
- Category
- Text search
To apply filters:
- From your Chart of Accounts, select the account
- Click on the "Filter" button at the top of the transaction list
- Select your desired filters from the available options
- Click "Apply" to see your filtered results
Use text filters to search for specific vendors, invoice numbers, or transaction descriptions.
Exporting transactions
Exporting your transactions allows you to analyze your data in other applications. Fiskl offers three export options:
- Google Sheets
- Excel format
- CSV format
Exporting to Google Sheets
- From your Chart of Accounts, select the account
- Click the "Export" button at the top of the transaction list
- Select "Google Sheets"
- Follow the authorization flow to allow Fiskl to export directly to your Google Sheets
- Your data will be exported in CSV format to a new Google Sheet
Exporting to Excel or CSV
- From your Chart of Accounts, select the account
- Click the "Export" button at the top of the transaction list
- Choose either "Excel" or "CSV" format
- The file will be downloaded to your device
Exported files will reflect any filters you've applied to your transaction list.
Why export your transactions?
Exporting your transactions can be useful for:
- Creating custom reports
- Sharing data with your accountant or tax preparer
- Backing up your financial records
- Analyzing your business performance in spreadsheet software
- Making a backup before making significant adjustments
Remember, regular exporting of your transaction data can serve as an additional backup of your financial records and help you gain deeper insights into your business performance.
